Griffin Technical College offers both the COMPASS and the ASSET placement tests for students.  The ASSET test is a written test that has a time limit and is similar to the written versions of the ACT and SAT.  The COMPASS test is a computerized test that uses "computer adaptive testing" techniques.  Computer adaptive testing uses a test bank of questions to give random questions to the student.  The difficulty level changes depending on the answer to the previous question.

Studying for the COMPASS or ASSET is not much different than preparing for any standardized test.  There are many study aids available for the SAT or ACT.  These can be used to help prepare for both the COMPASS and the ASSET.  There are very few study aids directly written for the COMPASS and ASSET because they are designed to be assessment tools rather than admissions tests.
